The Myth of Normal by Gabour Maté
KJ: I can't stop thinking about Gabour Maté's new book The Myth of Normal. He talks a lot about how we silence our need for authenticity in order to gain some sort of attachment. And from that place what you write is that for the first four years of being sick, four years I lived screaming to be heard and sinking into despair every time I wasn't. Scarcity of proof answers health and help was my story and the story was even scarier than the pain itself. It taunted me unless you make yourself better or less needy you will always feel alone.
