Isn't It an Interesting Phenomenon?
Linguists often use the phrase 'this is a good thing to do, so do it' But i think we'd be putting our fingers in our ears and closing our eyes and going, nananaan, i can hear you. It doesn't fit with our idea of what english should sound like. Just because we notice it's a phenomenon doesn't mean that we don't still encourage people to use appropriate language inappropriate domains. I definitely wouldn't encourage a student to use it in an essay or in a formal email to a colleague at work. If i saw it in a novel, i would still be surprised.
