Emergency Medicine Cases

CHAPTER

Introduction

There are 20 million STIs identified each year in the United States alone. Only 30% of patients are symptomatic, which means there's more than 60 million people with STIs every year. In part one of this two-part series on STI recognition and management in the ED, we'll talk about a general approach to serviceitis, vulval vaginitis, and urethritis. And in part two, we're going to talk about genital lesions and ulcers like syphilis, LVG, and also some extra-genital features of STIs like prostititis and colitis.
