Is the Strong Dollar a Problem for Emerging Market Countries?

The strong dollar is a problem for all sorts of reasons, and not just the countries. A lot of investors buy US treasuries or investment grade debt to hedge out FX risk. The cost of this hedging has arisen a lot, they're looking at these assets and may be forced to sell them. It becomes much more difficult to make a $10 billion investment in a country because your hedging costs have gone up.
