Henrik Lagollund is Professor of History of Philosophy at Stockholm University. He says the 16th century was an important period in the history of philosophy. The only thing that people have meant with skepticism in this period is ancient kind of skepticism, he says. But there's a medieval tradition which has to be taken into account where you have this very strong skepticism - and it goes towards universal entities such as God.
