Driving Challenges in the Rain

They discuss the challenges of driving in the rain, highlighting specific areas like Montana, South Dakota, Minnesota, and Iowa. They express frustration with people who forget how to drive in these conditions and emphasize the importance of slowing down and staying focused.

00:00
Speaker 3
And we always get people from, you know, Montana, a lot of people from South Dakota and Minnesota and stuff like that. And so my favorite thing to do is just be like,
Speaker 2
you know, it's, please keep
Speaker 3
us in your thoughts and prayers. It got really cold. It was raining a little bit. We were down to 58 degrees. Yeah. We
Speaker 4
left the water with an inch of rain. Yeah.
Speaker 1
Yeah.
Speaker 2
We left all the water on there.
Speaker 4
Very dangerous to leave your
Speaker 1
house. Because the rain was not enough for our plans. So we did have to, yeah.
Speaker 4
In fairness, I did have to run errands around town today. I've kind of crisscrossed the town today. Yeah. And there were like five different car accidents. Oh, yeah, yeah, yeah. Like fast. Yeah. Because the rain does just make the roads here slick and slow. Yes.
Speaker 2
Because nothing washes anything off of it. Yeah. Just sitting there waiting for the rain to bring it all up. I
Speaker 1
don't think it's fair that everybody says, oh, the accidents are because we don't know how to drive in the rain. What, that's not the problem. It's a goddamn Crisco out there. Like the roads are just greasy.
Speaker 4
Well, that's a little a Calamea,
Speaker 3
a little Calamea. It's a little bit of both. Yeah. Because it's the same thing in Iowa too. Like the first snowfall. It's the same everywhere. Yeah. First snowfall in Iowa, it was always just like people forgot how to drive in it. And it's like, okay, yeah, it's
Speaker 2
slick. Just slow down and get
Speaker 3
off your phone and you're going to be fine. Right.
Speaker 1
How can we say that Las Vegas is filled with transplants that everybody hears from somewhere else? And yet this community doesn't want to drive in the rain when we in Phoenix would be the only places that do not get rain. So if you're from anywhere else, like in this room, quick poll, all of you are from places where you learn to drive in the rain. I grew up here, but I figured out how to drive in the rain.
Speaker 4
My point is, what's your point? It's the pollution, man. Like it's the oil on the road. I think you just proved your point. I don't know. Our point. It's that too. Yeah. That's not helping. Okay. But it's also people don't know how to drive in the rain. People forget how to do it. Yeah.
Speaker 1
I point it. You know what? Actually, I like to retract my previous point. I want to blame the Californians. They're the
Speaker 4
problem. I think they show up popular things
Speaker 1
to do. They raise our insurance rates on our cars because they all drive like idiots. They just hit
Speaker 4
everything.
Speaker 3
That is the common theme in Las Vegas.
Speaker 2
Everyone hates
Speaker 3
telephone. I was the last person to move here when it was cool. And everybody who moved here after
Speaker 4
me is a pull the ladder up. Yeah. Yeah. Like the door. Once Nick crossed, we were like, all right, that's the last one. Yeah. Nobody else. After
Speaker 3
June 15th, 2012. Everybody who came after that is an asshole. But they're all making my home value
Speaker 4
go up. Yeah. So that's the, in that sense, I liked them. Yeah.
Speaker 2
Jacob's Revenant Instance.
Speaker 3
Yep. Now I'm just. He's going to see you.
Speaker 2
My little rental
Speaker 4
zap. Watching that arrow go up. Yep.
Speaker 3
So
Speaker 4
happy for you, Jacob. They just started to come down a little bit though.
Speaker 2
Yeah.
Speaker 3
Yeah, they are. You
Speaker 4
got that going for you. Yeah.
Speaker 1
Which is nice. Go move somewhere else too. That's an option. Where? Not here. I don't
Speaker 4
care. Get out. My point is you got here too late. Okay. Get the hell out. We don't want your people around here. Damn. Iowans.
Speaker 1
Iowa though. Cold as
Speaker 3
shit. I was looking at weather. Oh my God, dude. I don't realize how cold it is. Oh, here's the thing. Okay. So I was just showing Whitney this. I actually sent it to you on Instagram. The
Speaker 4
dick pics? No. My. I'm a. My, my, my
Speaker 3
sister's friend who I met. I mentioned in a previous episode that's down in Antarctica. Oh yeah. Yeah. She just posted a video of the Antarctica softball game. Oh. And so there, it's 32 degrees down there. Okay. And they're
Speaker 2
playing softball. Wow. Yeah. I was like, it looks warm there. He's like, it is. Yeah.
Speaker 3
Like 32. Yeah. It's like. Wow. So I mean, like compared to what it is in Iowa. Yeah.
Speaker 2
It's like negative 38. What? And it feels like temperature. Oh my. I can't fathom that. So watching on like Instagram or YouTube shorts is when people go outside in those, those like temperatures and they throw hot water in the air and then it all freezes. Oh my gosh. I'm like, I want to do that kind of someday. Wow.
Speaker 3
Yeah. It's exciting for two seconds. Yeah. Yeah.
Speaker 2
Totally. Then you're
Speaker 3
like, I'm done
Speaker 1
with that. Get me a little over it. Yeah. Yeah. I should point out that I should, I'm just going to play it from my phone. Here we are talking about the weather. Alec wrote us a jingle. The weather. So I'm just going to go ahead and get it play. And it is. Yeah.
Speaker 4
Once the play through an app. Jim's talking. Are you going to play the jingle that I have that Alec wrote about the weather? He wrote a new one. Shut
Speaker 1
up. Las Vegas weather is
Speaker 4
about to
Speaker 1
suck a dick. That's the, that's the jam. He wrote a new one that is not the jam. I'm talking about the weather.
Speaker 4
Yes. You
Speaker 2
weather.
Speaker 4
And he's doing it still. I'm actually just going to send this one. Now, this is the jam. This is the jam. And I sold jingle. This is the first time you've heard this. This is the first
Speaker 2
time I've heard this. So come on. This is the thing. I've heard like the first three seconds.
Speaker 1
He made a whole lot of dance remix. Yeah.
Speaker 4
It needs to be
Speaker 2
a dance. That's the club mix.
Speaker 4
So I just emailed Jacob the new one. He tried to make one that's short and punchy because he felt this jingle does not get enough airtime and we talked about the weather quite
Speaker 1
a bit. And so there was a collaboration in Discord and he started publishing versions and eventually he landed on a new one. There's a winner. Yeah, it's pretty solid.
Speaker 3
We do have some people in Discord lending us their music services because apparently Jim and I don't work fast enough on this replacing the theme song music. I think I
Speaker 2
was in there
Speaker 4
and I
Speaker 2
said
Speaker 3
that. So that'll
Speaker 2
be exciting.
Speaker 3
But the only caveat and I explained this to everybody is I
Speaker 2
said the only way that we got Jim on board is that he has
Speaker 3
agreed to play something.
Speaker 4
I want to buy a lever which I
Speaker 2
thought then and it will still never get done.
Speaker 4
So featuring whoever the artist
Speaker 3
is who actually made it. So fine. I don't care. The important thing is you probably also have to write the music and just tell Jim what to
Speaker 1
play. I want to just send me a triangle and I'll just ding out a couple times and you
Speaker 4
want to go get the triangle yourself? No. They have to send me one. Great. And I'm also just going to play it here at this microphone just dinging it once and there that'll be the end of my contribution. Yeah.
Speaker 2
Well once it arrives in the mail then you need to take it to Guitar Center and have it tuned. You've got to
Speaker 3
get it tuned. Sure. You don't want an out of tune triangle. People can tell. Yeah.
Speaker 1
So triangles then just play one note, right? Yeah.
Speaker 4
I think so. Why are you acting weird? That was a legitimate question. I
Speaker 3
think it
Speaker 1
does too but I think it also plays the dinner chime but that's it. So that's the extent of my... We used to have a triangle at HSR.
Speaker 3
Oh yeah. That's actually the most cool people to... I think it
Speaker 4
was so much fun. So actually I am experienced in triangle play. Oh.
Speaker 1
More than you'd think I am. I used to do it every day. Yeah.
Speaker 3
And then you got triangle wrist and then you couldn't do it. Yeah, yeah,
Speaker 4
yeah. I had to. That wasn't from the triangle. I retired at the peak of my triangle game. Triangle wrist. This is a kids show. Jesus. I heard that song. I heard the song. I heard the song. It was
Speaker 3
so clean up until now. Loomer's got through one.
Speaker 4
Almost got into the goddamn questions. Oh yeah the market explicit. There's potty mouth whitening over here. Keep it underpants. Jesus. I cannot. I cannot. I cannot.
Speaker 3
I cannot.
Speaker 4
We
Speaker 1
got some great questions today starting off with co-dependent with parents. Hey y'all. I have a complicated co-dependent relationship with my parents. As a result I've struggled with self-esteem issues, my sense of identity, emotional suppression, depression, etc. I've spent the past year or so working with a therapist on these issues and I'm happy to report that I've made some progress. I live across the country from my parents and the rest of my family and I think the distance has been really helpful. However, I'm traveling back to my childhood home for the holidays and I'll be staying with my parents for two weeks. Yep, we're late on this one. Sorry. That's how
Speaker 4
the key works. Fun to
Speaker 1
the show. Typically when I'm there it's really hard for me to get any space or time away from them and I end up feeling really overwhelmed. If I try to take a few hours to myself through something as simple as going to the store alone, they'll guilt me into
Speaker 4
bringing one of them with me by saying things like, we
Speaker 1
never get to see you and we just want to spend time with you while you're home. It's hard for me to push back when they do that because even though I know I need the space to take care of myself, it's easier to just give in than to risk some sort of emotional blow up from them. As you might expect, I'm a little nervous about my upcoming trip. I'm feeling healthier and better able to set and enforce boundaries when I'm living away from them, but I'm worried I'll slip back into old patterns once I'm around them again. Do you have any recommendations about how to protect my growth once I step back into that environment? Thanks in
Speaker 4
advance. Much in advance. Like about 12 months in advance. Not a mess.
Speaker 3
I assume the writer was talking about next
Speaker 4
Christmas. Yeah, people know. Yeah, people know the deal.
Speaker 2
Oh my gosh. Yeah.
Speaker 3
I mean, I kind of do this, but for different reasons, like when we go back, Laura and I like to take walks. So we'll just leave the house for a little bit. Okay. We'll go out and we'll take a
Speaker 4
walk. Yeah.
Speaker 3
Because it is kind of fun. And it's one of those things that I never really realized when I was living in this small town of 2000 people. Yeah. Just how walkable everything is. That's really nice.
Speaker 4
And yeah, any place you want to go, you can just walk. You don't want to live in Vegas. No.
Speaker 3
No, you can't walk anywhere. No, you have to buy car. Yeah. And so it was weird because like when I live there, we drove every place. You know, like, oh, we've got to go uptown to get something at the store. It's two blocks away. And we drove. Okay. You know, like you just drive everywhere you go.
Speaker 2
And so when we're there, we like to walk every place. And so it's just kind of nice and every, you know, it's nice to kind of get away and have some
Speaker 3
peace and quiet, get some fresh air. All of that. A doobie? Yeah. You know, do me explain, Jacob. Doobie
Speaker 4
is a slang for a marriage. What year do you think it is? I'm down with the slang,
Speaker 1
my man. You
Speaker 4
are. I watch a lot of this on a tree, but sure. I watch a lot
Speaker 1
of
Speaker 4
TikTok. So the Gen
Speaker 2
Z kids, I've
Speaker 1
got the pulse. I do so. I do so call it pot.
Speaker 4
I like to call it pot. I mainly just like calling it pot.
Speaker 3
I do. I know it's not going
Speaker 1
to be a joke. It's not going to be a joke. It's not going to be a joke.
Speaker 4
It's not going to be a joke. It's not going to be a joke. I don't call it the devil's cabbage. I don't call it the devil's cabbage. I do call it a funny cigarette. You know, use the good stuff then. Reefer madness. Oh, devil's cabbage. Anyway, naughty cigarette. You were talking about how you abandoned your parents. No, that
Speaker 3
was it. But no one's ever questioned me about it. It's because she like doesn't even notice you're there, man. That's true. Yeah, because she needs her break too. She's
Speaker 4
a spyman. Yeah. Honey, could you walk to the hardware store and give
Speaker 3
me a hammer?
