The History of Ramesses II

The reign of Ramesses II was an incredible period in the history of Egypt. We saw a major conflict between the Egyptians and the Hittites at Kadesh which must have been so bad that the two kingdoms did not attack each other again. The first said festival of the Pharaoh would take place after 30 years of rule and then traditionally every three years thereafter. These festivals were also designed to give the Pharaoh greater and greater spiritual power. It could even be argued that Ramesses II may have also been deified during his lifetime something that was very rare. Within the first 100 years of the treaty all Hittite and Egyptian influences over the Levantine lands had disappeared as had the Hittite
