The Problem With Bonobo Trafficking in Lomami

Dr. Hart says that trafficking isn't very prevalent in Lomami, though killing for meat occurs and its consumption is common. During a visit to Kindu, the governor of the Manyama Province at the time mentioned that he would stop eating bonobos. The main problem with bonobo killing in our area was for meat. And it was bonobo adults that they wanted. So we would find bonobo babies in villages where the mother was being dried,. roasted, as you would say dried over fire and over smoke just behind the house.
