Those Are Human Beings. They're Using Fire to Cook Their Food
This is not the sort of thingthat you would expect a an animal, or an unintelligent animal, to be able to survive. But at the same time, good grief, they're burying their loved ones. They are using fire to cook their food. They wear jewelry. We can find residues pigments that have been used to decorate the shells that they wear around their neck. A this is pretty advanced behaviour. And maybe it's not all perfectlyAdvanced like we would expect it to day,. but it's still pretty impressive when when you think then about a very different groupo fossils that we find in the record.
