I always took great comfort in knowing that I always had the work and the work is what anchored me. The extreme version of the downside of fame would be Amy Winehouse. For the most part, I did all right. There was no such thing as social media when you were making that album because you would have found out exactly what your fans thought. You can't please everybody. So you might as well just please yourself and hope that your taste is somewhat connecting with other people. It's not like I'm fucking making French prog music, is it?
