The Importance of R&D in Manufacturing

India has set up two R&D labs, one at Indian Institute of Science Bangalore and one at IKEK Bongwe. Close to 5,000 high-end manpower at PhD and master's level have been trained in advanced semiconductor fabrication. In the last 10 years or so, phenomenal output has come out of this,. close to 100 patents have come out, you know, which is very, very important in the manufacturing domain. Most importantly, many industry collaboration have emerged with applied materials, with lab research - Western Digital.
