In software, you have reams and reams of support libraries that either your organization has developed, or that you can pull in from open source. To some extent, that structure works in hardware with an idea of intellectual property suppliers. They're basically just companies who supply a hardware design for you to integrate into your system. That's that shet thof job i used to do when were developing video code.
