What's the Middle Ground?
Lying is like a lubricant. It allows us to show each other compassion in these small ways that the golden state is robbed of. In this world, if you can't, if no one can tell lies, and if everyone is always on guard for them, it adds a sort of stiltedness or brittleness to human interaction. I mean, at times it kind of reminded me of east in because you were always watched,. They watched, you know, on t v, they watched snuff people out in the streets with maybe surprise proposals and peachof people searching for lost things.
