The Abdication of the Throne
On august third, lieutenant general orleans proclaimed to a joyous paris that king charles the tenth had abdicated the throne. But there was no mention of abdicating in favor of henry the fifth. For all anyone knew, the kingdom was now simply in the hands of lieutenant general orleanst allies. As word of the abdication made the rounds in paris, it was accompanied by a rumor that this was all a ruse.
