What's the Difference Between Hardware and Software?

The software is the malleable part of a computer. That's something that someone gets to create and change and work with once the computer arrives in the mail to them. So where do software live in a computer? Software resides in what we call memory. In a future episode we'll talk about the different kinds of memory, but to put it in the most basic terms, memory goes into a few layers.
