I can't believe how repulsed I am by the use of chemicals in this movie. When he cuts the torpedo line and drinks the like, gas or the ethanol or whatever is directly. At first I was like, holy shit. And then later I read that it was a torpedo. He's certainly better off at the end of the movie than he was at the beginning of the movie. It's not super clear, but you're not gonna spell it out. They weren't sure throughout the movie whether Peggy could help him. But they secretly did.
