This is the vicious cycle that we get when we emphasize one piece of something and don't let ourselves see the alternative. The question is, how do we not go down the rabbit hole in the first place? There's some great research, Eric Dane, of competence traps. Our competencies, our expertise, as individuals, if everything is a hand, if everything, if I have a hammer, everything is a nail, we get stuck and we can't see the other possibilities.
