The Signs of Kidney Damage or Injury in a Feverly Sick Kid

The most common reason that babies have AKI in the setting of kind of a clinical illness is volume depletion. Any sort of pre-renal AKI is basically just impaired perfusion to the glomerulus. An elevated BUN can also give you a little bit of a clue that this kid's kidneys are trying to hold on to things desperately.
