Why the US Should Engage as China in the War on Taiwan
Taiwan's defensive bubble is so powerful that nothing can get through to the island. Taiwan has to start the war with everything it needs for at least the first month or two. Most of the time, trying to make the decision to try and knock out as many of the allied planes as possible in the first strike. This devastating opening salvo would surely be classed as an attack on the US but does open the door for NATO to be called in. But from what I'm reading here, it suggests the US won't actually call on NATO. So why is this? Why doesn't the US trigger Article 5?
