Is There a Problem With Peer Review?
The hoax was not able to prove whether or not there was a particular problem with so-called grievance studies disciplines compared with others. The trio didn't submit fake papers with unfashionable conclusions or submit hoax articles to journals in other disciplines. But it's hard not to read the hoax paper titles and feel like these might not be the issues which should preoccupy our finest minds. So is there a problem here that some disciplines rely on a language so loaded with jargon, so meaningless that it is impossible to distinguish between genuine arguments and outright gibberish? I turned to Jeremy Gilbert, a professor of cultural and political theory at the University of East London.
