The Meaning of the Word Isn't Why This Was Chosen.
The shape of the letters is what's actually important. Can you picture the letters in capitals? I sort of can. They're not m, they're not amside down. Ra, an, m written a capital m on its side, which it would be if it were written along your leg, would look perhaps like an efor. The shapes of the letters are all max said, no, there's a curve in the u. That's on the right track though. And remember, this is 19 91, so this is pretty early, an graphic and stuff.
In 1864, two ships' crews were cast away at the same time on the same remote island in the Southern Ocean. But the two groups would undergo strikingly different experiences. In this week's episode of the Futility Closet podcast we'll tell the story of the Auckland Islands castaways and reflect on its implications for the wider world.
We'll also consider some fateful illnesses and puzzle over a street fighter's clothing.
