Nixon's Chinese Characters for Hughes Loan
In 1971 McGraw-Hill publishes a fake autobiography of Howard Hughes. The book claims that Hughes loaned the Nixon's $400,000 to build up his empire. A source at McGraw Hill saw this and realized it was way bigger than everyone thought. So they make it out by adding more lies on top. This is how Watergate came into being.
