The Kingdom of God
The Old Testament tells the story of how God is a community of love. He doesn't follow through on his warning to kill Adam and Eve, instead, what's the first thing he does? He cares for them. The answer that Jesus gave to that conundrum and the New Testament writers after him was threefold. They become the kingdom of Israel instead of a palace. What do they have? A temple because even though they had kings, they were well aware that God, the creator, was the one true king. Every Hebrew king's attempt to co-rule with God in a life-giving way ended in failure.
