The Relationship Between Democracy and Society
In 1800, there weren't any democracies that they can find. They were either absolute monarchies or narrow oligarchies even in the early days of the Republic. So to summarize, I describe it as a relationship of complementary opposites. But I also insist that it is a marriage which we need, but like many marriages, we surely know, can end up in divorce. And I fear such a divorce.
