The English Push to Suppress the Welsh Language
In 15 15 36, all holders of public office in wales had been required to speak english. The movement to suppress the welsh language among ordinary welsh speakers doesn't really start until the nineteenth century. In a sense, again, it's not really so much a sort of malign insistence on the part of the government in westminster that english will be spoken everywhere. It's more a case of a blinkered sort of chauvinism that has no place for the welSh language and which therefore ignores the needs of the welshlanguage in favour of english.
