The Differences Between Friends and Living Single
Living Single was among the most popular series with black, Latinx, and teen audiences. Professor Crystal Brentzuk says it was not uncommon for black shows to be treated differently than white shows. Viewers couldn't find them. They were constantly nervous about what to do with them, what to make of them. Queen Latifah told the Los Angeles Times, it pissed her off every time she saw that friend's billboard.
