18 people a day were struck and killed in 20 20. How do we get to the point where 18 people are being killed a day? I think that people feel like they're in control of their driving and travel experience. That's a facade. They are not in control, and they cannot keep themselves safe. And so much of the design that creates danger for the pedestrian is setting the driver up. We set the driver up to not be able to see conflicts when they inevitably make a mistake. Because the design is created in a way where mistakes will be more frequent. Those mistakes will also be more deadly. So we just need to connect that dot to the danger as well.
