In charity, we want only to give ourselves wholly to him in even the smallest things of this life. In galatians five, for example, works of the flesh are plain the works of the spirit. He's using flesh to mean ourselves,. The flesh is the whole self as it is in need of redemption. It loves itself rather than the lord.
