About one in ten people that walk into an American hospital will have something wrong happened to them because of the medical care delivered. In the US these errors cause around 100,000 deaths per year. Hospitalization also takes a toll on mental health making patients feel anxious and oppressed. Last week I talked with emergency medicine physician Ziat Obermeyer about one of the toughest decisions that emergency doctors have to make whether to hospitalize a patient or send them home.
