The Kritius Boy
The Critteous boy represents an important turning point from the archaic Coros to early classical sculptures. The sculpture was excavated from the debris on the Acropolis of Athens, and is missing a leg in both of its arms. Unlike the stiff and static Coros, it has a very organic body that appears capable of movement. It shows a perceptible weight shift off of the central axis to make a more natural pose as if in midstride. Its head has hair, which radiates in thin strands from the crown, and is rolled up over a headband.
