What Is a Short Interfering RNA Drug?
A short interfering RNA medication interferes with the production of a protein within the cell at the level of messenger RNA. This is a little bit different from the PCSK9 monoclonal antibodies because what those do is bind a protein once the protein has already been produced. So who would this medication potentially be appropriate for? The simple answer is patients with very high levels of LPA. But first what we have to do is to more broadly get the message out there that it is important to measure lipoprotein little A levels so that we can identify these patients earlier and treat them later.
