The History of the Electric Light Bulbs

Gerard Phillips was a mechanical engineer who created the first electric light bulb in 1891. He and his father bought a factory to make bulbs, but it didn't take off immediately. Gerard's brother Anton joined the company as sales weren't reflecting the quality of the lamps. By 1894, rather, the business was already in trouble and in fact teetering on the verge of bankruptcy.
