When war broke out, Theo attempted to immediately enlist. He was rejected by both the marines and the army air corps because of dental issues. Once drafted, he volunteered for the parra troopers,. Like so many of the men of easy company, his first time in a plane, he jumped out of it. It's hard to imagine the depth of his courage.
