Gideon is depicted in chapters six and sevenis quite fearful. He seems to have overcome that with god's help. But he sees a little more than once and needs a little extra help and reassurance along the way. And that's not such a bad lesson either, that if we feel the need for help and reassurances, it's ok to say that. It's ok to be honest, ask for that.
