The Evolution of Hominin Environments
From a view from the top it looks like sort of a wasteland, a sanding, rubble wasteland. So it doesn't look terribly impressive physically but once you get down into the gorge and are able to get up close to some of the exposures one can see layers in the rock. In those layers where the artifacts have been uncovered the fossils of vertebrates, the fossils of humans and also the stone tools in which they used. That's so cool. It takes a little bit of imagination I think sometimes or maybe a little artistic creativity to take what looks like sand and gravel and dirt and dust and out of it as you say a lush and vibrant landscape. Absolutely.
