The Geology of London

London has been built on for thousands of years. We've always thought from the archaeology that the whole area is subsiding. That's why when you dig down you find Roman ruins. But in fact, the area is uplifting and we know that through space satellites launched by ESA using radar to measure very small movements in the ground a couple of millimeters a year. And that tells us that it's ectonically active.
