The History of the Hollywood Flames
Curtis Williams, one of the Hollywood Flames, left the group in late 1954 or early 1955. He and an old friend decided to form a new vocal group called the penguins. The music teacher Samuel Brown at Jefferson High School produced more great jazz and R&B missions than you'd expect from a school ten times its size. Even those who weren't Brown's star pupils knew it was possible for them to become successful singers and songwriters.
