The Nuclear Option - Is That Really the Trigger?
The trigger was obstruction around judges, says the former senator. The idea that responsible governing simply wasn't possible as long as the minority maintained the ability to block anything it wanted in terms of what the majority wanted to do. And so basically, over the course of the year, there were a couple of sort of false starts where we came close to ploying the trigger on the nuclear option.
