Why Saltwater Keeps Clothes Wet

We've got Aaron from the Mornington Peninsula with a question about salt. He was wondering why saltwater keeps clothes or material wet but dehydrates a lot of things. It absorbs water like crazy, so this is trouble with trying to dry towels at the beach. We need space to go ahead and space research but we need a better way of getting there.
