The protocol varies depending on which centre you're in. What happens in our centers is that I take them to my dementia MDT where we look at the radiology and once we're happy to proceed to tap testing, I'll organise the tap test itself. If it's positive the surgeons are happy to go ahead usually. And if it's negative then they may go for a lumbar drain Depending on what the clinical paradigm is. On the drain test, are they having a daily walk or is it just a walk at the end? The physiotherapists are quite active at Charing Cross and they will assess people repeatedly.
