Shin San Goomi - A History of the Shin Sangoomi

Matsudira Katamori was apparently convinced that this core group of less than 20 who decided to stay behind could be trusted. He set them up in the village of Mibu on the outskirts of Kyoto. Eventually he reorganized this remainder, bolstered them with some fresh recruits, and named the group the Shin San Goomi. They wanted to fulfill their original mission, to serve as guards for the Shogun during his trip to Kyoto,. And to maintain order in the city while he was there.
