The Inverted U Principle of Mindfulness

The Yerkes-Dobson law says there's an optimal level of arousal. If you take too many drugs to improve your attention, they're going to cause anxiety and insomnia. And that's basically the same idea for meditation. You can overdo it and start to have too much cortical arousal. This was actually the first study that I ever did where I watched 200 people sleep in a lab then taught them meditation.
