The Myth of the Buddha
The Buddha lived in the Axial Age, which was a time of extraordinary upheaval and creativity. People sort of expected to meet these other kind of beings in the world. They had this sort of mythic connected with nature but it's hard for us to really imagine or to be like to experience the world in that way. So we understand that kind of quite psychologically. In a way, perhaps Buddhism has always been quite psychological.
