Perrier's History in the United States
By the 1970s, Perrier's growth in Western Europe was flat. So it decided to try a well-financed relaunch of the brand in the United States. The Orson Welles adds are the most famous part of that relaunch. In 1975, Perrier had been selling about 2.5 million bottles a year, only in restaurants. By 1979 though, it was selling 200 million bottles yearly, 100 times more and that number would only go up throughout the 1980s.
