The Rise of Stoicism in the Roman Republic

Stoicism is rooted on the idea that you don't control the world around you, you only control yourself. And it doesn't matter what other people are doing, it doesn't Matter what they can do to you, it just matters how you respond to that. That's the attitude you need in the decline of fall to Roman Empire. You needed it during the American Revolution, you needed during the Civil War and Victorian era.
