Growing up in england where we had carpet on the floor all the time it was completely normal. It wasn't until i lived in japan that i started to think actually carpets a bit disgusting and wearing shoes on carpet is also pretty disgusting but my brother had no clue about any of this so for him he just felt like i was being really annoying uh asking him to take his shoes off.
