The Two Player Mode Is Really Interesting and Strange

I think they probably just wanted to be able to keep the coins meaningful an the needed like a middle ground, is my guess. Because otherwise there's no real need to farm coins, farm lives. The fact that you can steal lives from the other player is one of my favorite qualities of this game of all time. And i do appreciate that the system that they have leads to that kind of experience.
