I think even more in the UK at the moment than in the US. And it means that the ego intrudes. It means that wherever you're sitting in the theatre, you get an obstructed view of the stage. That's the curse of all art that is hijacked by political types. I wrote a brief review of the Super Mario Brothers movie which I went to see twice with my kids. But clearly the people who made it did not set out to make a progressive movie or a conservative movie. They set out to making a movie. The great Ian McKellen, who is a brilliant Shakespearean actor.
