The Role of States in Regulation of National Security AI
I think the perception here is that various types of national security AI pose risks, real physical risks to people. I think there is a potential concern that certain kinds of these tools could end up misleading states into thinking that they need to resort to force in the first instance. And I think the tools may also find themselves in the hands of non-state actors. So I think the bottom line is that there are states and non-governmental actors that are urging states to move in this space perceive real risks of physical harm from improperly constructed or deployed national security AI.
