Nicha argues in section 54 that virtue has been taught as mortification of the self, pity, even the negation of life. So all those values obviously found in christianity, but their exhausted values. They appeared once as a remedy, but in fact, hastened us toward the end. And now that we've abandoned god, we have not abandoned these exhausted values as a collective subject. Because we are ultimately still exhausted. We we haven't undertaken the revaluation. All our remaining energy s king towards increase of pleasure or decrease of displeasure. But none of that touches the question of meaning. Ahehe compares this to the environment in which buddhism came along
