They appeared once as a remedy, but in fact, hastened us toward the end. And now that we've abandoned god, we have not abandoned these exhausted values as a collective subject. Because we are ultimately still exhausted. We we haven't undertaken the revaluation. All our remaining energy s king towards increase of pleasure or decrease of displeasure. But none of that touches the question of meaning. Ahehe compares this to the environment in which buddhism came along
